Dunlop Design Wins the 2023 TIDA New Zealand Apartment of the Year

It’s a delight to share the latest achievement of Dunlop Design, winning the prestigious TIDA New Zealand Apartment of the Year 2023. Spatial designer Jennie Dunlop flawlessly designed luxurious interior for this St Heliers Penthouse Apartment compliments the architectural design by Chad from Archaus. Notably, the elevated position enjoys a spectacular uninterrupted view out over the Waitemata Harbour and beyond. Let’s delve into the exquisite features and innovative design choices that make this apartment a true, award-winning masterpiece.

On the back of achieving success at the 2022 TIDA Home of the Year Award, Jennie achieved success in 2023 with the additional awards for TIDA Apartment of the Year Award, Runner Up Master Suite and Highly Commended Powder Room for the Penthouse.

Within the same development the Ground Floor Apartment received Powder Room of the Year Award including Highly Commended for the Apartment design..

A Captivating Reflection of Nature: Mirrored Splashback and Panoramic Views

One of the standout features of this award-winning apartment is the clever use of a mirrored splashback. This captivating feature in the kitchen was strategically positioned to reflect the breathtaking views of Rangitoto Island. This brilliant design choice enhances the connection to the surrounding natural beauty and adds depth to the living space. Combining this thoughtful touch with the floor-to-ceiling glazing on three sides not only allows tremendous natural light but also excellent views of the Waitemata Harbour.

The building that this St Heliers apartment is in is absolutely spectacular, with the most awesome views of the Waitemata Harbour. It had everything going for it.”

Transparent Walls and Spacious Living: Innovative Design Features

A standout feature of this penthouse is the ingenious use of transparent walls made of aluminium and glass. These walls create an illusion of depth and openness, allowing the breathtaking views to permeate the living space from every angle. This design choice enhances the feeling of transparency and offers a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoor environments. The expansive open-plan living area, spanning the width of the building, effortlessly merges with the media room, providing residents with flexible and versatile spaces for relaxation and entertainment.

Once I experienced how the generous Living space spanned the entire width of the building capturing the light and view I was keen to replace the solid walls enclosing the Media Room with black aluminium framing and glazed panels. This created transparency without comprising the usefulness of a second lounge.”

Finishing Touches of Luxury: Impeccable Details

Notably, this apartment’s attention to detail is exceptional, with every aspect carefully considered. No detail was overlooked, from the kitchen benchtop crafted from SCE Stone Essential Grey Marble to the European Oak Brushed cabinetry throughout the kitchen and island. The bathroom and ensuite feature Ceramics Les Origines Argent Matt Porcelain Tiles, creating a serene and luxurious retreat. The engineered oak flooring by Creative Flooring European adds warmth and texture. At the same time, the powder room exudes elegance with its Arabescato Grigio Marble benchtop and Trendzseater Kelly Wearstler Melange Floating Disc Marble wall sconce. Finally, Living Room disc Pendant and  Linea Pendant LP Miro by Light plan Miro adds a touch of modernity to the space, completing the sophisticated ambience.
